I have been motivated to create this series of mixed-media paintings as a next step in the exploration of traditional landscapes, both our interior landscapes and the landscapes that surround us. Because of their suggestive nature, it allows the viewer to interpret the way they see the images. I feel abstracted artwork is completed by the viewer. The colors and textures suggest water, sky, earth, fire and also undefined places of our inner landscapes. The more one looks into these paintings, the more one sees. They are meant as reflections to life.
I have layered many thin layers of paint to create a rich depth to the artwork. The bottom panel has dirt, ash and sand mixed with the paints to create a lavish texture.
