These landscapes are my tribute to the beauty that surrounds us. They reflect the power and wonder of nature. My motivation is to bring awareness to our changing landscapes.
The neutral panels of the artwork are influenced by Asian artwork where the empty spaces play just as important part as the literal panels. The composition allows the viewer to breath and participates in the interpretation. For me it is another aspect of observing a moment. Taking in the view as well as the texture on the ground and rocks is part of an experience. It combines a distant and close up perspective of the same environment. I mix sand and dirt into the paints as part of the creative ritual. For me these panels are the flesh of the earth. It is a form of respect to the miracle of the earth. The geometric forms can represent man’s attempt to form, construct and build parameters around nature.
